At Wimbledon 2024, Novak Djokovic expressed his joy after winning his opening match on Center Court, despite initial uncertainty about his performance. He shared his admiration for snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan, whom he met for the first time during the tournament, and revealed that O’Sullivan’s influence had made him a fan of the sport.
Djokovic compared managing pain during his match against Rafael Nadal in Paris to his Wimbledon performance, acknowledging the vastly different circumstances. He also paid tribute to Andy Murray, who withdrew from the singles event due to injury, praising his resilience and inspiring career.
Djokovic wore a gray knee sleeve, which he was given permission to wear despite Wimbledon’s all-white policy, and planned to find a white sleeve for his next match against British player Jacob Ferley. Throughout the press conference, Djokovic focused on preparing for the tournament, maintaining positive energy, and preparing for potential five-set matches.
