As Andy Murray nears the conclusion of his career, Emma Raducanu has disclosed the extent of his influence on her emerging career.

Murray’s first-round match against Tomas Machac is planned for Tuesday on Centre Court, but he has yet to decide if he will compete in the Wimbledon singles. In addition, the three-time major champion has assured to play doubles with his brother Jamie.

Raducanu acknowledged that seeing the tennis legend up close had improved her competition preparation, demonstrating how much of an impact Murray is already having on the next generation.

Raducanu expressed her remarks about Murray in a recent interview and said: “The biggest standout thing for me was when he lost in the final here at Wimbledon and came back a month later and won the Olympics. To get through 6 really difficult rounds and then lose in the final.. then to play a month later and be in the final again. Your mind without you realizing runs Deja vu scenarios. like ‘ok I made it to the final.’ It’s very difficult to shut that out. Which is in a way why I’m very grateful I won the US Open. Because to make the final and not win it, you’ll always kind of have in the back of your head ‘Will I ever get it?’ For me, I have it now. I’m just loving life I guess.”

She further added: “I think the biggest advice is how he’s taking care of his operations, how he manages his people. I haven’t really spoken to him so much. But for me, it’s just like watching him operate day to day. watching him be absolutely on it with everything. Even in practice how he’s so on it to the minute. When I was a bit younger maybe and showed up 15 minutes before practice to do a few arm circles swing my arm around and warm up. He’s there like an hour and a half doing treatment, the full thing. He just sets really good examples.”
