Genie Bouchard was aiming at winning her first title of the year, but she fell short to Elina Svitolina in Kuala Lumpur.
The match went through a couple of rain delays and it ended 6-7 (5) 6-4 7-5 for Svitolina. The Ukrainian claims her 4th career, the first of the year.

Elina commented “It was a long day. The first set was really tough and she was playing really well, but I was 5-3 up, so I was disappointed to lose the first set after such a tough fight. After we stopped a couple of times because of the rain, it was up and down.”
Talking about Genie, she is on her way to redemption, but she is not quite there yet. More glory to come.
