This announcement came on the first day of the tournament, just before she was scheduled to play her first match against Emina Bektas. Sabalenka’s withdrawal is a significant loss for the tournament, as she has been playing incredibly well this season, including winning the Australian Open twice. She expressed her heartbreak in a statement, indicating that she had been dealing with the injury for some time, and despite her hopes and efforts to recover, she was not able to compete.
