Bad day from Novak Djokovic that loses an important point in doubles against Kazakhstan. After winning the singles (an easy 6-1 6-2 6-3 vs. Nedovyesov), the world no. 1 played doubles with Zimonjic against Golubev and Nedovyesov to lose in straight sets (6-3 7-6 (3) 7-5).
Now the qualification for the quarters looks a bit tricky since Troicky lost his match in the day 1 (7-5 6-2 6-4 vs. Kukushkin) and Serbia is 1-2 down.
Serbian is still the hot favorite to get through since on Sunday Djokovic should not have problems in beating Kukushkin, but Troicki might get shaky in the decisive single against world no.200 Nedovyesov or world no.205 Golubev. Still, the rankings are on Viktor’s side.
