Just hours remain until the All England Club opens for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and tensions between former coach Boris Becker and Holger Rune are already high.
After working with Rune for five months, from the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2024, Becker claimed not to have seen the Dane and current coach Patrick Mouratoglou together in the days before the season’s third Grand Slam tournament. He expressed confusion about whether the two were still together in a tweet.
Becker tweeted on X: “Quick question: I see @pmouratoglou in London but not with @holgerrune2003 at @Wimbledon. Are they still working together?”
Not unfamiliar with the reply button, Rune responded to Becker straight away, making fun of the situation of his former mentor’s public nature.
Rune replied: “It’s super strange that you don’t ask me this question directly as we text together about other stuff. The answer to your question is yes; we work together. Sharing the tournaments between us as planned.”
