Nick Kyrgios didn’t manage to recover from a virus to confirm he will not play the Davis Cup tie against team USA.
There was a widespread rumour that Lleyton Hewitt would have played the singles, but the captain said it will be Groth to play instead.

Lleyton commented “I’ve been around enough Davis Cup ties now to know you’ve got to have back-ups and plans in place. I’m hitting the ball well and we’ve got as good a team as we can field going in and I’m confident we can still win.”

Lleyton may play if Tomic will not make it (Bernard was struggling with his wrist), but apparently the young Australian will make it “I’m playing very well and I’m playing on a surface that’s my favorite.
