Andy Murray and Jamie Murray were given wild cards for this year’s Wimbledon gentlemen’s doubles, and they will be playing there.
After being forced to retire due to an injury at Queen’s Club last week and undergoing surgery for a spinal cyst issue, Andy’s participation in The Championships 2024 was put in jeopardy.
The two-time Wimbledon singles winner Andy, who stated today that he wished to compete at Wimbledon one more time, has also hinted throughout the year that his storied tennis career will probably come to an end this summer. With the wild card assigned to him and his brother Jamie, he moved one step closer to realizing that desire.
Although they have teamed up to represent Great Britain in the Olympics and Davis Cup, this will be their first time playing together at Wimbledon. While Jamie made it to the final in 2015 and won the mixed doubles here in 2007 and 2017, neither Andy nor Jamie had ever won the gentlemen’s doubles previously.
