Simona Halep had to face an extremely good Amanda Anisimova in the French Open quarters before losing 6-2 6-4.
Even if the Romanian was obviously disappointed for not being able to defend her title, she was extremely gracious in defeat to acknowledge how good was her young opponent.
Why Simona Halep was not disappointed
During the press conference following her loss to Anisimova, Simona commented
“I think she played great. I think that I have done everything I could today and this tournament, I’m happy with the result.
It’s not bad at all to make quarterfinals at a Grand Slam. Coming as a defending champion, the pressure was on. But I think I had good matches, and I’m leaving this tournament with positive thoughts.”
Simona will now take a small break before getting ready for the grass season. The Romanian admitted that this is her “chill” year and that means that she doesn’t want to push too much as she did in the previous seasons.
