Novak Djokovic, the seven-time Wimbledon champion, has provided an update on his participation in this year’s prestigious tournament amid his recovery from knee surgery. Djokovic, who suffered a medial meniscus tear during the French Open, has resumed practice at SW19 but remains cautious about his readiness to compete at his best.
“I didn’t come here to play a few rounds. If I know I can play close to my maximum or at maximum, then I’ll play, if not then I’ll give somebody else a chance to play,” Djokovic stated, highlighting his condition for competing.
Despite his uncertain status, Djokovic expressed optimism about his rehabilitation progress. “Rehab is going in the right direction every single day,” he revealed. “A few percent better and better. That’s what’s giving me hope and encouragement to keep going.”
In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match. I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well.
