Federer, Djokovic impressed by Wawrinka, Tsitsipas’ match

Wawrinka Tsitsipas

Stan Wawrinka and Stefanos Tsitsipas played the best match of this Roland Garros (so far) and arguably the best contest of the year.

Eventually, it was the Swiss that won the battle after slightly more than 5 hours with a “sick passing shot” as per Federer’s words.

Both Djokovic and Federer joined the tennis community in praising the effort of both players.

That was an unbelievable match. FEDERER

Novak was impressed by the effort of Stan and Stefanos to say “They both were winners.”

Roger commented

“That was unbelievable. I saw some of it; I was at the press conference.

I think I was also playing at the same time. And I watched pretty much the fifth set, that was unbelievable. It had everything; the crowds loved it. They probably would have liked a little more too. But Stan was happy it ended.”

Talking about the match point, Roger added

“That was a sick pass at the end on match point. Jesus, right on the line. Stan did amazing, I was really happy for him. Especially since his knee problems which were severe. They were tough so it is nice to see him back to winning ways.”

Head to head Federer vs. Wawrinka

Roger will face Stan Wawrinka in the quarters. The head to head is 22-3 for Roger, but “only” 4-3 on clay for the former world no.1.
