The smallest noise, though, can ruin a match in tennis, but for Jannik Sinner, it was a hilarious classic. Sinner was ready to serve to tie the second set during his semifinal match against Zhizhen Zhang when he heard a fan sneeze. Instead of becoming angry, the world No. 1 burst out laughing.
A berth in the final was at stake, and every shot in the high-stakes ATP Halle semifinal showcased the two players’ elite abilities. Just as the tension was building, a loud sneeze during the second set calmed the atmosphere in the stadium. When Sinner threw the ball to serve, he could not contain the big smile that was on his face. He finally made it back to the baseline, but not before he let out another small laugh and paused for a while.
Zhang had to take a moment to stop laughing in addition to Sinner. This unexpected interruption briefly broke up the tension of the match.
