Djokovic defeats Ferrer to play surprising Monaco in the semis – 2012 ATP Sony Ericsson – Miami – YouTube Video

Novak’s rule is still strong in the ATP. The world nr.1 had to defend himself against a very dangerous David Ferrer that according to his style he never gave up.

Novak broke David twice in the first set to win the opener in 32 easy minutes. The second set looked the same from the outset when Nole broke David again. Then Ferrer went to David’s mode to fight back and bring the Serb to the tiebreak. The decider was just a Serbian affair. Nole won it at 1!

‘I needed to play well, aggressive, step into the court from the first point and that’s what I did,’ Djokovic said.

‘I had a fantastic first set and was a break up in the second, twice, serving for the match.

‘Then in some moments I allowed him to take control in the rallies and just waited for him to make an unforced error, which he used wisely and got back into the match.

‘You can always expect that when you’re playing David. He’s like a wall on the court – gets a lot of balls back, always makes you play an extra shot.’

Novak will play a sensational Monaco. It was his birthday and Pico decided to celebrate it with a very strong perormance. ‘I meant every shot that I played,’ said Monaco. ‘It was a perfect match for me. It was unbelievable. That was the way to celebrate my birthday, playing like this. I feel proud and very happy.’

The Hot Shot of the day was on Novak.
