Anna Tatishvili receives a massive fine of $51.520 by the Roland Garros organization after she lost in the 1st round to Maria Sakkari 6-0 6-1.
Why the huge fine
Anna wasn’t playing a competitive match since October 2017 as she has been struggling with an ankle injury. The American accessed the main draw of the French Open using the protected rankings, but she didn’t impress the organization after she lost in straight sets in just 55 minutes.
The slams have introduced a new rule stating that if a player is injured, he or she can withdraw from the 1st round and claim half of the (huge prize money).
According to the official, Anna Tatishvili didn’t play at a “professional standard level” so as to receive the huge fine.
Social Media was not impressed with the decision of the Roland Garros.
