In the run-up to the Grand Slam competition, Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur emerged as the most recent Wimbledon participants to withdraw from matches early.

In her Berlin Open quarterfinal match against Anna Kalinskaya, Sabalenka appeared to be struggling with a shoulder issue and gave up after behind 5-1.

After losing the opening set 7-6 (11-9) to Coco Gauff, the two-time Wimbledon finalist Jabeur decided to withdraw due to sickness. The women’s singles at Wimbledon begins play on July 1st with the first round.

Before Gauff, the top-seeded American, won the first set, Jabeur saved eight set points against him. After consulting with the physician, the Tunisian, who seemed to be having respiratory difficulties, decided not to begin the second set.
