Emma Raducanu is one of several tennis players who have been given wildcards to Wimbledon for the 2024 tournament.
In a good start to her grass court season, the former US Open champion advanced to the Nottingham Open semifinals last week before losing to fellow Brit Katie Boulter.
Raducanu made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2021, although she hasn’t competed there in the previous two years. She has had numerous wrist and ankle surgeries recently, and she recently turned down a wildcard to compete for Great Britain in the summer Olympics.
For the summer competition, Naomi Osaka has also been given a wildcard. After giving birth, she returned to the French Open earlier this year, where she was defeated by eventual victor Iga Swiatek in an exciting and challenging match.
After giving birth to her first child, Osaka took a 15-month break from the game until returning in January. She has only ever advanced to the third round at Wimbledon, which she achieved in 2017 and 2018.
