Nadal breezes past Londero to enter the quarterfinals in Paris

Nadal makes it to the quarterfinals in Paris

Rafael Nadal has entered the quarterfinals of the French Open after dispatching Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero. Nadal proved too good for his opponent in the match as the world no.78 failed to make any sort of impression against the world no.2.

Nadal beat Londero 6-2 6-3 6-3 in 2 hours and 13 minutes.

The Match

In the first set the Spaniard opened with winning his service match, he broke his opponent’s serve in the next game. The world no.2 again broke Londero in the 8th game to win the set 6-2. Nadal saved all the three break-points in the 5th game by striking 3 consecutive winners and this prevented his opponent to make any in-roads into the match.

In the next set, Londero again failed to make any impression and Nadal won the set easily by 6-3.

After the match the 11-time French Open champion commented about the playing conditions and about his opponent:

“A very difficult day. Very windy out there. So it was not easy to find the feelings. But with those conditions, I think I did a lot of things well, playing a solid match against that player, being honest, he’s good. He’s very intense, with good shots from the baseline, very aggressive. It was a positive victory for me.”

About his upcoming match in the tournament, the Spaniard said:

“Tough match against Kei or Benoit. So that’s my goal now. But of course 11 here already is something really unbelievable.”
