that tried in vain to practice with the former world no.1 in Paris.

The match

Serena looked well set at the very beginning after she conquered a 2-1 lead. However, it was Kenin to conquer the following 7 games to lead 6-2 2-0. Serena managed to recover that break (3-3), but eventually the 20-year-old conquered the decisive break in the 11th game before winning the encounter 6-2 7-5

in 92 minutes.

Sofia will face Ashleigh Barty for a place in the quarters. The head to head is 2-0 for the Australian.
