Nadal beats Goffin in the 3rd round in Paris

Rafael Nadal beat David Goffin in the 3rd round match in Paris.

Nadal was relentless in his 3^rd round match against David Goffin on Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris. He beat Goffin 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-3 to reach the 4^th round of the French Open. He has now got a place in the 4^th round for the 14^th time in the tournament.

The Match

The first set was a breeze for Nadal who broke Goffin twice to score an easy first set victory by 6-1.

Nadal was simply brilliant on his serve and his groundstrokes were superb. This was more than enough for Goffin to surrender in the first two sets of the match.

Goffin was good in the 3^rd set where he held on to his serve till the 8^th game to level at 4-4 and broke the Spaniard in the 9^th game to lead 5-4. He held on to his service in the 10^th game to win the set 6-4.

The world no.2 re-gained the momentum in the 4^th set and tightened up his serve. The 11 times French Open champion broke the Belgian’s serve in the 4^th game of the 4^th set and then held on to his serve easily to win the set 6-3.

The Spaniard won the match 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-3 in 2 hours and 49 minutes.

Nadal will now take on Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero in the 4^th round.
