Djokovic, Murray and Fish advance. Roddick and Del Potro fall – 2012 ATP Sony Ericsson – Miami – Youtube Video Interviews

Novak keeps his march toward the title. With Roger out and Rafa in trouble with his knee, Nole is once again the favourite to a back to back title.

Novak is not in his top form, but it looks enough. The start of the match was not really good for the Serb with the Frechman attacking continuosly from the very beginning. Then Novak managed somewhat to stick to his tennis to get the match in straight sets.

Novak will play the next math against Ferrer that looks back to his 2011 form. The Spaniard had a comfortable win over Juan Martin Del Potro that looked unable to use his serve (3 aces and 3 double falts with a meagre 62% of 1st serve points won) to lose 3 serve games.

Djokovic – Ferrer record is 7-5 for Djokovic (Nole was badly trashed 6-3 6-1 in the 2011 WTF in London). There could be an upset here… but can you ever say that when on the other side there is super Novak?

Fish and Monaco are going to clash in the quarters.
Monaco defeated Roddick in a match that was even till the 5-5 in the first set . Then Andy melted and Pico got 8 straight games with the telling final score… 7-5 6-0.

Mardy confirms he is still the most reliable America around winning a semi-marathon with Almagro in 2h and 35 minutes. There is not much history between the two (2-2 head to head). Last time that Mardy won against Monaco was in 2006, but this time he might be the one.

Finally Andy Murray cruised to victory over Gilles Simon 6-3 6-4 with a very good tennis. The curious statistic is that both player had a better winning % on their 2ndserve points than on their 1st serve ones! Andy won 63% points on his second serve, 53% on the first. Similarly, Gilles won 79% on his second serve, 69% on the 1st… something to revise for both.
