Alexander Zverev ousts Mikael Ymer 6-1 6-3 7-6³ in the 2^nd round in Paris on Thursday.

The Match

Everything was extremely smooth for Sascha until he was leading 6-1 6-3 5-3. Then the German failed to serve-out the match, and he had to battle until the following tie-break before winning the contest 61 6-3 7-6 (3).

Zverev served very well to win 83% of the points 48/58 behind his first serve, and he won 50% points 15/30 on his second serve.

Zverev fired 12 aces and he committed 3 double faults. The German was struggling in converting his break points since he converted only 45%.

After the match, Zverev revealed

“I think I’m playing well again. I think a lot of tight matches have helped me in Geneva and here in the first round. Today, I was swinging at the ball quite nicely and hitting it very aggressively and it was a very good match for me.

In important moments, I’m finally being very aggressive and stepping up. I think especially against John in the fifth set I stepped up a lot and this is, I think, what I’m happiest about.”
