Didier Deschamps’ interests extend beyond the realm of football. Despite the impending start of Euro 2024 in Germany next week, the coach of the French national team recently attended the A1 Padel France Open in Beausoleil. During an interview with Oscar SolĂ©, he shared his passion for padel.
Deschamps revealed that his involvement with the sport began back in 2010 while he was coaching Marseille. He reminisced about the limited availability of football pitches in Monaco in 2001, which led him to discover padel. Despite the scarcity of courts and players in Cassis at the time, he found joy in playing and has continued to do so over the years. Watching padel matches on television holds a special place in his heart, and he expressed his genuine fondness for the sport.
Since retiring from professional football, Deschamps has been an avid participant in padel and has been open about his affection for the game. Other former footballers, such as Hatem Ben Arfa and Sylvain Wiltord, share his enthusiasm for the sport.
