In “Where to hit the LOB – PadelTactics,” a YouTube video, the coach emphasizes the importance of the lob as an attacking shot in padel, setting it apart from the defensive lob in tennis. There are three lob alternatives that are talked about: down the line, down the center, and cross-court.
While down-the-line lobs are challenging to execute but can make it harder for opponents to attack, cross-court lobs aim to challenge the opposing forehand corner. More court space is available with the down the middle lob, but opponents are more likely to counterattack with a bajada.
When choosing which lob to deploy, the coach suggests taking the opponent’s position and skill level into account. For additional in-depth information on lob techniques, viewers are encouraged to check out their tactics course.
