Alcaraz believes that Djokovic “will come back stronger than before”

During the press conference after his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz wished to give a sincere memorial to Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz And Djokovic

Following his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz wished to pay a heartfelt tribute to Novak Djokovic during the press conference. The young Spanish player expressed how disappointed he was that Djokovic was unable to play in the Roland Garros semi-final, saying that he hopes to see the Serbian champion return to the game at his best.

When facing Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals, Djokovic was forced to give up. It was a difficult and depressing choice, but one that had to be made because of the seriousness of his knee injury and the need for surgery.

In the third and fourth rounds of the French Open, the Serbian champion defeated Francisco Cerundolo and Lorenzo Musetti in two close matches in the fifth set. Nonetheless, in the latter instance, a slip made the knee damage worse and resulted in a rather catastrophic injury. Though much will depend on the course of action Djokovic chooses to take to address the matter, it is hoped that he will return to the court at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz recently expressed his thoughts about Djokovic’s injury and said: “He has always managed to recover quickly from injuries and has always come back stronger than before. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope we can enjoy his tennis again as soon as possible. I was surprised that he retired because he ended up playing very well against Cerúndolo. This is tennis. It is a great disappointment for all tennis lovers not to be able to admire him in the semifinals.”
