Stefanos Tsitsipas, a Greek tennis player, stated that the bad weather in Paris was the reason he and his girlfriend decided to delay their formal mixed doubles debut.

The Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed that he and his girlfriend Paula Badosa had postponed their official mixed doubles debut because of the weather in Paris. Tsitsipas also acknowledged that he was disappointed about withdrawing from the French Open mixed doubles with Badosa.

It became known that Tsitsipas intended to compete in all three events upon his arrival in Paris: the singles, men’s doubles together with his brother Petros Tsitsipas, and mixed doubles alongside Badosa.

However, Tsitsipas and Badosa’s first-ever mixed doubles match at Roland Garros was postponed to Monday due to the bad weather in Paris and other delays during the first week of play. Additionally, Tsitsipas and Badosa withdrew from the mixed doubles competition on Monday, but the Greek player still played that day, defeating Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 with the help of his brother Petros.

Tsitsipas recently said: “I’m still upset about it. I have to blame the weather in Paris. It was a disaster. I didn’t expect that I would have to play two doubles in one day, especially a day before a big match like the singles quarterfinals. It’s too much for anyone and I think it was a wise decision to retire from one of the boards. I’m glad Paula understood and was the first to suggest it a few days ago but I was convinced I could handle it and be okay.”
