Novak Djokovic Not Happy With The Court Conditions At The French Open

Novak Djokovic discussed his knee injury during the French Open quarter-final match in a post-match press conference. He mentioned that he had been experiencing slight discomfort in his right knee for a few weeks but hadn’t had any concerning injuries. However, the late finish from the previous night and a slip during the match aggravated the knee, causing him to seek physio treatment and medical timeouts.

The pain disrupted him for two and a half sets, and he was unsure if he should continue playing. After taking medications, he felt improvement towards the end of the fourth and fifth sets. Djokovic plans to undergo more tests and assess the situation further. He also discussed the challenging clay court conditions at the French Open, which were affected by heavy rain and sun.

The court’s upper layers were affected, making it slippery, and Djokovic slipped multiple times during his match, leading to his injury. He asked for more frequent court sweeping but was told no by the chair umpire. Djokovic expressed his concern that the care of the court could have been more frequent during the match to prevent or mitigate the injury. He also mentioned that the injury could be attributed to both wear and tear from aging and previous trauma.
