De Minaur makes history at the French Open

Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur reached his first quarter-final at the French Open, becoming the first Australian man in 20 years to do so. His resilience and skill were showcased in a challenging match.

Alex de Minaur, an 11th-ranked tennis player from Australia, upset Daniil Medvedev, the fifth-seeded player, in four sets on June 3, 2024, to go to his first French Open quarterfinal.

With this accomplishment, de Minaur reaches a major turning point in his career as he becomes the first Australian male to reach the French Open quarterfinals since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004.

De Minaur’s tenacity and skill were on full display in the match, especially after dropping the opening set. Even though Medvedev appeared physically uncomfortable, he was unable to overcome de Minaur’s impressive performance.
