Federer beats Otte to advance to the 3rd round of the French Open

Federer beats Otte in the 2nd round in Paris

The 2009 champion Roger Federer has advanced to the 3rd round of the French Open, he beat German qualifier Oscar Otte  6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hour and 36 minutes.

Otte earned 4 break points but failed to convert. Federer broke Otte once in each set to breeze through the match. Otte had played just one Grand Slam match before this one and he offered a bit of resistance to the champion player and that must have made him proud of his performance.

The Match

In the first set, the Swiss broke Otte in the 10th game which came of as a result of a forehand error from the German, it helped the world no.3 to win the set 6-4.

In the second set, the world no. 144 fought till the 7th game holding on to his serve. In the 8th game, Federer broke the German with a volley winner to lead 5-3 and then he won his next service game to win the set 6-3.

In the 3rd set both the players held on to their services to level at 4-4. The Swiss broke Otte in the 9th game to lead 5-4 and then held on to his serve to win the set and the match.

The world no.3 will now play Norweigan Casper Ruud in the 3rd round on Friday.
