During the third-round match between Tomas Machac and Daniil Medvedev at the 2024 French Open, a pigeon landed on the court at Court Suzanne Lenglen. Chair umpire Damien Dumusois had to intervene, using a towel to rescue the bird. This incident happened during a changeover in the fourth set of the match. The pigeon had dropped to the red clay and remained on the ground, leading Dumusois to take action.

He chased the pigeon, eventually bending over to grab it with the towel, earning cheers from the spectators. Dumusois then carried the pigeon toward a doorway and handed it off to someone else, who held the bird aloft, drawing more applause from the crowd. The match continued with Medvedev leading 4-3 in the final set, and he eventually won the match 7-6 (4), 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.
