Carlos Alcaraz went to the third round of the Roland Garros after beating qualifier Jesper De Jong in four sets, 6-3, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. He thought the second round was more challenging and complex than many may have first thought. During the press conference, Alcaraz reviewed the game, highlighting its most difficult parts and pointing out how the playing conditions were not favourable to his forearm’s growth.

Alcaraz had a rough time getting here because he missed a lot of the clay-court season due to a forearm injury. The 21-year-old pulled out of Barcelona and Monte Carlo before extending his condition during his attempt to win the Madrid Open again last month, just before Roland Garros pulled out of the Italian Open.

Alcaraz expressed his thoughts about it and said: “My arm is fine. The truth is that I haven’t noticed anything about my arm, but obviously, these types of conditions don’t help at all. The humidity, the ball gets too big, it’s hard to move it, it’s hard to make winners, and the points get longer and longer. I was a little scared about how my arm would go and how it would react, but everything went very well. So I don’t blame the ups and downs on my arm, but on me, there is no other way.”
