Emma Raducanu talked about the negative feedback she gets on the internet from pieces that have been published about her, claiming that the media typically portrays her negatively. However, the British player looks past the mere “clickbait” aspect of these stories and acknowledges their global influence on children.

Raducanu opted not to compete in the French Open and she is currently on leave. A wildcard into Roland Garros’ main event wasn’t granted to the previous US Open winner. To prepare for the forthcoming grass swing, the 21-year-old chose to relax rather than participate in the qualifiers.

Raducanu recently complained in an interview about how her popularity leads to multiple headlines claiming that she “s**ks” at tennis. She pointed out that, despite their nature, these pieces wind up encouraging young people to pick up a racket. She felt that this had a greater effect on her than all the bad things that happened to her.

Raducanu expressed her remarks about it and said: “When it’s online, it’s not like you’ve got 15,000 people shouting, ‘Go, Emma’. Online, it’s more like 15,000 articles saying Emma’s this, Emma’s that, and Emma s**ks. One thing I’ve learned is that my reach goes a lot further than the headlines, and that’s just clickbait. Bar those articles, affecting and inspiring kids to pick up a racket because of something I said—that’s cute. That is way more impactful for me.”
