The Russian defeated Simona Halep in a 2 hours and 45 minutes’ battle 7-6 (5) 4-6 6-3 in the semifinal even if Svetlana scored 5 points less than Simona (104-109). The Kuznetsova demolished Monica Puig 6-0 6-2 in a 55 minutes’ final.
Kuznetsova: I didn’t expect this
Svetlana commented “It’s great. I mean, honestly, I didn’t expect this, but I’ve also never gone into a tournament thinking about winning, never even once. I just went out there and performed, and everything went my way. Now I just want to keep focused for the Australian Open.”
