Novak Djokovic has stated that Boris Bosnjakovic will be his team’s new interim coach for the Roland Garros tournament this year. The Serbian has not had a regular coach since splitting with Goran Ivanisevic.

Djokovic’s professional career has been greatly influenced by Bosnjakovic, a 50-year-old from Novi Sad. Whether he can improve Djokovic’s game, which has been criticized this year, is still to be seen.

Djokovic stated this during a press conference and said: “Since my split with Goran, I have never confirmed that I have a permanent coach. I said that Nenad was there to help me as a friend and as a mentor, as someone who I regard as important in life.”

The 24-time champion, who suffered a crushing loss to Tomas Machac in the Geneva semifinal, has voiced concerns about a possible dip in form. To advance his game, Djokovic’s supporters have urged him to appoint a new coach.

He further said: “Boris is a part of my technical team when it comes to the analysis of my rivals, matches and my own game. We’ve been cooperating for several years in many roles and Boris remained the head coach at Novak Tennis Centre. He is going to be my tennis coach in Paris; he will work with me on analysis, preparation and tactics. As for what comes after this tournament, I don’t have a long-term coaching solution at the moment.”
