German tennis legend Boris Becker acknowledged that he couldn’t think of a record in tennis or sports in general that would beat Rafael Nadal’s 14 Roland Garros titles.
On May 27, Nadal will take on Alexander Zverev in the opening round of the French Open in an attempt to win his 15th title. Even yet, the Spaniard’s preparation for Roland Garros has been substandard; he has struggled to recover his form. Consequently, he has left his Roland Garros destiny broad, with no clear conclusion during the competition.
Nadal has a remarkable 97.4% win percentage in the French capital with a win-loss record of 112-3, despite having to withdraw from his 2016 third-round encounter due to injury.
Becker emphasized that, in actuality, it is an impossible task in and of itself. He continued by saying that it is impossible to win 14 French Opens because not even he, Stefan Edberg or Pete Sampras have ever won one.
Becker expressed his remarks about Nadal and said: “You win it five times; that’s a lot. If you win it 10 times, it’s impossible. Nadal’s won it 14 times. I don’t know any other record in any other sport that equals that. Borg won it six times, which at the time was unheard of, but [Pete] Sampras never won it, Edberg never won it, and Becker never won it. So there’s no shame in not winning the French Open.”
