Fernando Belasteguín finds himself in a moment of pure happiness. With the unwavering support of his fellow compatriots, he celebrated his 45th birthday in style in his hometown of Pehuajó, surrounded by family and friends. Currently, he is competing in the Mar de Plata Premier Pádel.
Following the historic defeat in the tournament’s round of 16, the victorious player decided to take the stage and dedicate the win to a person who had made a lasting impression on him. Among us is a pretty unique individual. It has been 34 years. He served as my very first instructor. Trying not to cry, he said,
“There is a very special person among us. 34 years have passed. He was my first teacher. He taught me a lot of things, not only about sports but about life,” he began while trying to hold back tears.
“Still, every day, I think about how lucky I am that it was such a story, to be able to play today and for him to come see me. There is a book that I read twice, I recommend it to everyone because it is a spectacular book, which is called ‘Tuesdays with my old teacher’. For me, from now on the book will be called ‘Thursdays with my old coach'”
