Jessica Pegula announced on Wednesday that she will not be participating in the French Open because she still needs to focus on recovering from her injuries.

Earlier this month, the 30-year-old stated she wasn’t sure if she would play in Paris after recovering from an injury that ended her claycourt season. It was in April that Pegula made her Billie Jean King Cup debut. She had a neck problem in February, which kept her out of the Middle East swing.

Recently, she wrote on Instagram: “Unfortunately, I am pulling out of Roland Garros this year. I’m just about back to practicing normal; I haven’t had any issues for weeks. If I had another 5-7 days, I would have been there 100%. So I will be back for a full grass season, the rest of the summer and grinding out the rest of the year. Gotta get that match count up.”

Pegula did not disclose the nature of his most recent injury. Last year, she advanced to the third round of Roland Garros. This season, she also missed Stuttgart, Madrid, and Rome.
