Iga Swiatek defeated Aryna Sabalenka once more, winning the Italian Open in straight sets.
Earlier this month, Swiatek emerged victorious in the Madrid Open final after a thrilling matchup with the world’s second-ranked player. The 22-year-old defeated Sabalenka 6-2, 6-3 on Saturday to earn her 21st career title.
She expressed her feelings after the win and said: “After Madrid, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I’m really happy that I was able to play consistently during the clay season. The final tournament is in front of us. I always enjoy playing with her.”
Recently, Swiatek was spotted playing tennis with a fan with cerebral palsy and it seems the fan was more than happy to play with the world No. 1 player.
The ambitious fan was very grateful to Swiatek for the play and wrote on X: “THANK YOU, IGA SWIATEK. Despite my disability and my cerebral palsy, I play tennis with passion today, an amazing practice with world number 1. Thank you, IGA, for your kindness & generosity. Despite disability, always believe in dreams!”
