Aryna Sabalenka’s hopes of taking home a Rome clay court title were shattered. Iga Swiatek upset the Belarusian WTA star with a final score of 6-2, 6-3. Even though she ultimately experienced an emotional roller coaster throughout the showdown, she gave off the impression that she had accepted everything.

Sabalenka’s recent loss to her Polish opponent was her second straight event where she experienced a similar outcome. Even though she gave off the impression of being sufficiently angry during the match, she was able to collect herself and return to her previous humorous WTA star self.

Sabalenka turned to her team to make fun of them for losing another final and said: “Of course, last but not least, I want to thank my team for helping me lose another final.”

Later, she claimed that she was kidding and said: “I mean, they all know everything! I’m a happy person to have you by my side.”

When Sabalenka lost to Swiatek, she was happy with her runner-up finish and found fresh motivation for the next clay-court major.
