Alexander Zverev topples Federico Delbonis 7-5 6-7(6) 6-3 in the semifinal in Geneva on Friday.

The Match

The match against the Argentine was extremely complicated for Sascha that was struggling to keep his advantage in the 1st and 2nd set. In the opener, the German conquered a 5-1 lead before losing 4 consecutive games (5-5). Eventually, the German managed to win the opener after winning a crucial break in a very long 12th game (7-5).

Everything looked good for Zverev in the second set after he broke Delbonis again in the 6th game (4-2), but once again the Argentine fought back in the following game (4-3) before winning the breaker at the tiebreak at 6. (7-6)

In the third set, the world no.5 was much more composed to break the Argentine twice (3rd and 9th game) without conceding his serve any more.

The final score was 7-5 6-7 (6) 6-3 and the match ended after 2 hours and 38 minutes.
