British tennis player Daniel Evans has split from coach Sebastian Prieto for the second time after a decline in form that has seen him win just three ATP Tour matches this season.

It is believed that the partnership ended a few weeks ago following a disagreement about a racket re-stringing job; however, Evans’s dismal recent performance undoubtedly has a larger backdrop.

Evans suffered a 7-6, 6-4 loss against 19-year-old Chinese player Juncheng Shang on Friday, ending his journey to the BNP Paribas Primrose Challenger event in Bordeaux.

Prieto and Evans collaborated up to the grass-court season of last summer after they originally linked up in 2021. At that point, Evans fired Prieto, an Argentine doubles player on the circuit who had previously trained 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, citing his lack of availability for enough events.
