Novak Djokovic has participated in four events this year and has not won a trophy since winning the 2023 ATP Final in November. This has alarmed former American player Andy Roddick.

Many people believed he would ultimately gain momentum after losing the Australian Open, but Roddick noted that this hasn’t happened yet. He lost in Indian Wells, Monte-Carlo, and Rome after the Australian Open.

Roddick talked about it in a recent podcast and said: “I’m more concerned about his tennis than I have been in probably 15 years. Knowing that maybe he just needs more of us to tell him that, you know, the kind of me against the world mentality he’s mastered throughout his career. But for how long are we going to say, ‘He’s going to get his act together’? That’s what I’ve been saying since the beginning of the year. This time, it was weird. I thought he was going to gain momentum.”

In Rome, Djokovic was not the same as usual, as he lost to Alejandro Tabilo 6-2, 6-3. Djokovic appears to be having difficulties, but retirement is not an option. He has frequently expressed his desire to continue playing and he even plans to do so until 2028.

The second Grand Slam event of the season will take centre stage in the tennis world after the conclusion of the Rome Open. As the defending champion, Djokovic will be arriving in Paris having defeated Casper Ruud 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the previous year’s tournament.
