During her 2024 Italian Open quarterfinal matchup against Zheng Qinwen, Coco Gauff displayed her remarkable athleticism. Securing her victory, Gauff displayed her lightning-fast reflexes as she swiftly dodged the Chinese’s misplaced shot.
In the WTA 1000 tournament quarterfinals, Gauff and Zheng played an exciting match that ended with Gauff winning the first set 7-6(4). She subsequently won 7-6(4), 6-1, and advanced to the semifinals in Rome by dominating the second set.
On match point, Gauff’s display of pure athleticism took centre stage. In the second set, serving at 40-30, 5-1, the American struck a shot that should have given Zheng an easy victory.
But the ball was mishit by the Chinese, and it ended up right in Gauff’s path. The twenty-year-old miraculously jumped in the air and avoided contact with the ball to continue the contest.
Gauff celebrated with her arms lifted in triumph after pulling off the move and landing on the ground, then she went to shake hands with Zheng.

Gauff is now playing in Rome where she managed to beat the world no.55 Magdalena Frech 6-3 6-3, the world no.68 Jaqueline Cristian 6-1 0-6 6-3, the world no.126 Paula Badosa Gibert 5-7 6-4 6-1 and the world no.7 Qinwen Zheng 7-64 6-1.
Coco Gauff will face the world no.1 Iga Swiatek in the semifinal on Thursday at 3:00 pm on CENTER COURT. Their record is 9-1 for Swiatek.
