Kleybanova downs Larsson (after having defeated the cancer) in an emotional match – 2012 WTA Sony Ericsson – Miami

The Russian is definately the most compelling story of the tournament.

After her struggle against the cancer (see article here) she managed to win another less important (but very emotional) match… thi time on the court.

We are sure that Alisa dreamt this moment for long time

‘I’m really happy I won the match, but I really enjoyed playing,’ Kleybanova said. ‘It’s not like if I didn’t win it today I would be all mad.Just to feel again all those emotions was really great and something I missed the most from tennis.’

‘For me, it’s not like I won the tournament,’ Kleybanova said. ‘For the rest of us, in normal conditions, I just won the first round. For me, inside, it was really emotional, and for my coach and friends who were out there.’

‘Doing professional sport you always have something, some pain,’ Kleybanova said. ‘You have so much fatigue every day.

‘No one was expecting something like that, but on the other hand I knew something was wrong and I wanted to figure out what was wrong.

‘I knew it was going to be a very tough time for me, another big fight and take a long time, so I had to be focused.’

ah.. by the way she won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, but this is not really important…

Huge stuff!
