In the middle of his match against Terence Atmane of France, Lorenzo Musetti pulled out of the men’s competition in Rome due to a stomach ailment and flu-like symptoms.
In his encounter against the unseeded Atmane in the second round, Musetti was down by a set and a game. When Musetti withdrew from the Rome Masters on Friday at the Foro Italico, Atmane advanced to the third round.
Musetti expressed his thoughts about his withdrawal and said: “I tried with the little strength that I had. The heat and general conditions didn’t help me. I didn’t have the energy. It hurts because Rome is a very important tournament for me. I felt very good in the previous days and there’s much regret for this withdrawal. I will now try to take as much time as possible to recover as best I can. I am confident that I will make it to Turin and then Paris, where I will go a few days earlier.”
Lorenzo is forced to retire after the first game of the second set. #Atmane is the first player to reach #IBI24 R32. https://t.co/eiw6mml2mj
