According to a report in the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, tennis player Camila Giorgi disappeared, deactivated all of her phones, and stopped taking WTA calls. The 32-year-old announced her retirement yesterday through the ITIA.
However, given that the Women’s Tennis Association was unaware of Camila’s intentions at the time and continues to be ignorant of them, there was no notification from the WTA. According to Corriere della Sera’s report, the WTA attempted to get in touch with her but received no answer. With the WTA, Camila essentially vanished from view, and very little is known about her intentions, given that she would have removed her phones as well as those of her whole family, which consists of her brothers Amadeus and Leandro as well as her father Sergio.
The tennis player’s current whereabouts are unknown, but there are speculations that she is abroad because of issues in Italy, most likely connected to the COVID issue that was just brought before the court and the charges against which the player falsely certified herself. The career of the gifted tennis player, who was formerly ranked No. 26 on the WTA and won the WTA 1000 in Montreal in 2021, thus ends in a state of general mystery. On March 23, Camila faced off against Iga Swiatek, and this was her final match.
Camila Giorgi has retired from professional tennis.
It’s sad to see her leave the sport so suddenly and quietly.
But in a way, it’s poetic.
She’s a woman of few words & always let her racquet do the talking.
