The German track and field star, long hailed as the “world’s most attractive athlete” by her admirers and online platforms, has secured her spot in the upcoming 2024 Olympics in the mixed 4x400m relay following her participation in the World Athletics Relays Bahamas last weekend.

Sharing the excitement on her Instagram Story last Sunday, Schmidt featured her fellow German athletes Manuel Sanders, Johanna Martin, and Emil Agyekum, captioning it, “What a night.” She added, “From paradise to Paris.”

Scheduled to commence on Friday, July 26, and concluding on Sunday, Aug. 11, the 2024 Olympic Games are on the horizon.

With a massive social media following of seven million across Instagram and TikTok, Schmidt announced the official kickoff of the Olympic season on Sunday via TikTok, eliciting a flood of well-wishes from her fans in the comments.

Support poured in from all corners, with one TikTok user expressing, “Good luck, I’ll be rooting for you,” while another wrote, “Wishing you great success Alica.”

Although Schmidt journeyed to Tokyo for the Summer Games in 2021, she opted not to compete, later revealing her decision to take a hiatus from the sport.

Reflecting on her performance in 2021, Schmidt shared her disappointment on Instagram in August 2023, acknowledging the challenges she faced, including a Covid infection and torn ligaments. However, she remained determined, expressing her hunger for more success.

During her break, Schmidt maintains an active online presence, regularly sharing videos and photos from her matches and training sessions.

Anticipating the world relays this month, Schmidt emphasized the privilege of representing her homeland, expressing her deep honor on Instagram in April, stating, “I’m feeling so honoured to represent Germany at the world relay championships in one week. Let’s get it.”
