Andy Murray is expected to have his first child by mid- February, but you’ll never know how these things go. The big problem is that the Australian Open will finish just a couple of weeks before, so if Andy gets to the second week and Kim (the wife) goes in premature labour, well …  that will be a very bad timing for the Scot.

Murray chooses the baby

Andy has no doubts that if he will face a clash of agendas, he will choose (rightly so) his baby “It’s obviously important. I want to make sure at the beginning I am there as much as I can be to try and help out, just be there for whatever is really required of me.

It’s going to be life changing when the baby comes but I am excited about that. People have asked ‘Do you think it will be a distraction?’ It might be but it’s a good distraction. It’s actually not good to be just concentrating on tennis and your training all of the time.

It is important to be able to take a step back from it and, when you finish on the practice court, be able to just go away and be with your friends and family, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Reaching the final and not being able to play would be rather cruel. Andy is the 2015 runner-up. Let’s see what is going to happen in 2016.
