At a press conference, Matteo Berrettini stated his initial remarks and said he is still recovering from tonsillitis, which prevented him from competing in the Munich and Madrid events.
Berrettini clarified that he will try all in his power to enter the field in Rome and offer himself a chance, but he will also try to throw his heart above the fight. He said: “It’s nice to be back in Rome. I found everything improved, but the energy is always the same. It’s nice to regain the typhoon and the energy that I’ve missed so much in recent years. Today was more of a finish. I have not been able to train much in the last period and I am here because we are in Rome.”
He added: “I’m trying to play in every way because it’s been three years and I missed it so much. I’m putting it all on. It was a very complex preparation for the tournament, and I’m trying. I would have wanted to arrive in different conditions.”
