Serena Williams might not be satisfied with her incredible season after missing a historical Grand Slam at the very last hurdle (d. by Roberta Vinci in the US Open semis), but her 2015 was much appreciated by “the rest of the world”.
That Roland Garros …
Sport Illustrated was no exception to name Serena Sports Illustrated 2015 Sportsperson of the Year.
The icing on the cake of Serena’s amazing season was probably winning the Roland Garros while she was sick (wildly sick) “I was crying so hard. I didn’t want to win. I just wanted to go home. I said, ‘I can’t play anymore.’ ” Serena commented. Then she went on winning the final in 3 sets against an in form Safarova!
Well deserved!
