Carlos Alcaraz says he is eager to stop Jannik Sinner from winning more titles, though the world No. 3 player admits it’s one of the hardest jobs in tennis right now.

Sinner has won the most titles (Australian Open, Rotterdam Open, and Miami Open) and has a 26-2 win-loss record. His two losses have come from matches against Alcaraz at the Indian Wells Open and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Monte Carlo Masters. Sinner is the ATP Tour’s best player so far this year.

Since Novak Djokovic withdrew, Sinner has risen to the No. 2 spot in the ATP Rankings, making him the favourite and top seed in the Madrid Open. However, defending champion Alcaraz is optimistic that he can prevent his opponent from winning not just in Spain but also in other tournaments.

Alcaraz stated his remarks about Sinner and said: “He is not used to playing here in Madrid. He hasn’t participated in this tournament since 2022 and in general, he hasn’t played much here. I don’t know how he will adapt to the altitude but his first shift was impressive. Obviously, in every tournament he plays, he is one of the favourites to win. I will try to play my best tennis and not let him win any more titles (smiles), but at the moment things are quite complicated. But, you know, if Jannik plays at this level, as I said, he’s the favourite in every tournament he goes to.”
